I have been using this for 5days now each day was a little greater on charge. First day showed 100% 215miles second day 100% 234miles Fifth day it now shows 100% 233miles. It charges in less than 11hrs but I have not had it below 50miles when starting the charge. Works well and is reliable so far. My husband and son set it up. The wiring was straight forward the app not so much. That is the main reason for the rating of 4. It asks for a certified tech. My husband wired our first house and has rewired houses we have gutted and remodeled he is not certified but certainly knows what he is doing. He and my son had to do a work around with the app.

I already had a 50 amp outlet installed so it was easy for me to plug and play. One phone call for a question was quickly answered and resolved. Excellent service also, highly recommend.

This charger works flawlessly! It's awesome they made it so you can change it from a plug in charger to a hardwired charger if you change your mind. I bought the plug in version and decided to hard wire it at the last minute. It's pretty easy to install yourself if you know what you're doing. I used the normal chargepoint app to initialize everything at the beginning. It comes with pretty detailed instructions for installation. Just remember you need a 50 amp service to run 40 amp charging(9.56kw), a 60 amp service to run 48 amp charging(11.5kw), and I believe a 70 amp service to run the full 50 amp charging(12kw) if your car allows it. My car can do the 11.5kw charging, but I decided to do the 9.56kw and hardwire because you can use romex (if it's inside only) to wire it. Once you get to 60 amp breakers, you need to run conduit all the way to the main breaker box and use thhn wire instead of romex. I hardwired because these chargers don't want you using a gfci breaker at the main panel because they have one built in. My area has code where if you're plugging it in a garage, you need a gfci breaker. If you hardwire it then you can use a regular breaker, which is ten times cheaper.

I bought this charger to be installed in our home garage for my Tesla, and it was eligible for the EV rebate provided in our state. Experience with it has been great so far - the app is very simple to use; you can set your charging schedule and it connects you to other available chargers nearby.

The description for the power cable is accurate (12") but this is extremely short and requires that you mount the unit to, and just above, the same stud that the outlet box is mounted to. In a typical garage, the outlet will typically be located ~30" above the floor and mounting the unit to the same stud will require that you place it as close as possible to the outlet creating a tightly looped pigtail shaped sort of connection (see photo). It would be preferable to actually mount the unit to an adjacent stud, thus giving you better height placement options, but would require a power cord that is at least 2-3' in length. I suppose that it would be very easy to replace the cable with a longer one, but it would be nice if it just came with one of reasonable length in the first place. Aside from this minor nit, the app is easy to use and I would highly recommend this product for personal use.

After using some no-name EVSEs, I decided to spend a little more to get a name brand EVSE. We've been charging with this EVSE twice a week for the last 5 months. The short story is that the hardware looks nice and the connector is higher quality than the cheaper EVSEs but we've had problems with charging and with the app.

Config info:
50 amp breaker
40 amp charge rate most of the time
2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV

Things that have happened:
One time the charger just locked up. The light was on but plugging into the car did nothing. I tried turning the breaker off and then back on and it didn't help. I had to call in and they were able to reboot it remotely. That fixed it. No idea what happened that time as it happened while I wasn't even using it.

Two times we've come out to find the car no longer charging. The EVSE had lit up red and we didn't receive a notification in the app that something was wrong. There was no indication of what happened. We tried unplugging from the car and plugging it back in but the only way to get it working again was to turn off the breaker to reset the EVSE.

A handful of times we've had problems with the app. For example, as I write this review, I am unable to change the charge rate from the app. It is 100 degrees outside so I figured I'd back the charge rate down to 25 amps instead of 40 amps. However, when I tap the save button, the app just says "Network Error." I can still adjust the brightness of the LED through the app but I can't change the charge speed. Super helpful.

Another thing to be aware of is that there is the ChargePoint out on highways and the ChargePoint for you at home. In the app, when you go to get support you have to pay attention to which one you are contacting because they aren't the same guys apparently.

Once the plug for this was professionally installed in our garage it was a simple 5 step process:
1. Attach to Wall with some screws
2. Plug 3 color coded (colors you will match) wires in the charger
3. Plug Device into outlet
4. Hook up to wifi and see progress, schedule things on your app for this charger if you like and see how much it may cost you per charge along with mileage and more on the app.
5. Plug into your EV and you're good to go.

We really love this simplicity and the easy to put away type of method on this charger (the charger has a wide-ish lip at the top to hang the excess cable which is perfect for a 25ft length of ours.

I'd recommend this for Tesla and Non-Tesla EV owner's for this charger from this company.

I am very happy with the product. No surprises. Well, not 100% true. I was surprised when I actually needed the ability to schedule the charging time. I thought this feature was available on the car itself. But, apparently, Volvo (2024 XC60 hybrid plug-in) removed the feature in the US. Thankfully, this charging station has it and it’s very easy to use. Now I can take advantage of the lower rates at night.

Volvo also limits how much power the car is allowed to draw. So, I’m not able to take full advantage of the charging station’s impressive output. But, I’m glad to have plenty of headroom for future vehicles. They will only want more and more power. Still, I’m getting a full charge from empty in 5 hours. Less than half the time of the 120v charger that came with the car.

I also like all of the stats the app gives… like the estimate of what each charge cost based on my utility plan.

The only downside, so far, is there is one feature where you enter what car you’re charging (make, model, year) and it’s supposed to give data specific to it. Like miles gained as it charges. But, there’s a bug in the software and it won’t save my car’s info. I entered a ticket with support. No response. Which is a little disturbing. What’s going to happen if I have an important issue???

All in all… very satisfied.

UPDATE: Just checked the status of my support ticket. It was closed. They never responded, just closed the ticket. I’m glad it isn’t a serious issue. But, it raises concerns about how good their support will be if something serious occurs.

Once the electrician finished installing the outlet the charger was easy to install. I was expecting a faster charge. It takes around 4 hours to fully charge my PHEV SUV to 32 miles worth of charge. This is my first PHEV/EV so this may be typical I just thought it would charge faster. The 110 charger that came with the car took about 28 hours to get what I get from this charger in 4 hours, so it is substantially faster than the 110 charger.
