    I bought my ClipperCreek more than 5 years ago. It's been outside in the weather and it's been a trooper. We have had 2 EVs for the past few years. The charger always works.

    Then a month ago or so, it stopped working. A fault light came on and it wouldn't charge either car.

    Fast forward: ClipperCreek tech support was super responsive via email. They walked us through various checks, etc. We shipped to unit to them. They could have replaced a whole circuit board but, instead, replaced a single resistor that had failed (and which seems to have a history of failing in our seaside locale ... after 5+ years). They were professional, intelligent and prompt.

    Charger was back home within a week or so - and it's back doing its job.

    I am very happy. Great products are worth a good review. Great product support is worth even more.

    This is one of the best chargers you can buy. It's set up to be plugged in an outlet or hardwired. Due to my county's electric code, having a hardwired unit is critical. The only downside of this unit is it's a 32 amp charger while the new EVs coming out can support 50 amps. I didn't see the value in doubling the price of a charger for the extra amps. I would happily buy Clipper Creek again.

    I was looking for a charger for my new Nissan Leaf and saw a charger that was a lot cheaper. I was going to buy it but when I was looking at the reviews someone recommended this charger. I never bought the other charger so I can't compare the two, however, I've had this charger for about 2 months now, use it everyday and love it. It was very easy to install, just mount the unit where you want it and connect the wires to the circuit breaker (have an electrician do this part). There are led lights on the charger to let you know if you have power to the unit and also lets you know when it's charging. Once the car is charged, it automatically shuts off the charger.

    I was pretty impressed by the size of the wire they used between the charger and the plug and I really like that the cable is long enough so I can charge the car whether the car is in the garage or in the driveway. For those of you who have a carport instead of a garage with a garage door, the unit comes with a lock so someone can't come to your house and charge their car when you're not home.

    I purchased the plugin version first and then realized that I really needed the hardwired model instead. Return and exchange was easy (although I had to pay return shipping, which was fair). Had my electrician install it. Very simple. We love it. Instead of taking 10-12 hours to charge, it now takes less than 2 hours. MUCH more convenient. Highly recommend this charger.

    I appreciated that my electrician has experience with installing ClipperCreek chargers and had nothing but praise for them. It has been working flawlessly for 3 weeks so far. Since the charger is located close to the garage door under the electrical panel, I installed vinyl-coated bicycle hooks in the ceiling and threaded the 25 foot cable through them to above the location of my vehicle's charging port, using a velcro strip to hang the "nozzle" on a bungee cord - works great. Just need to be sure the bend radius on the cable is not too small at any point.

    I just bought (leased) a Honda Clarity Electric and figured I would use a combination of commercial charging stations and 120v household current on our driveway. But when I checked with our local utility (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) I discovered SMUD would either 1) give me a check for $599 to cover charging for several years to come or 2) give me an HCS-40P from Clipper Creek.

    The HCS-40P is not rated for outdoor use because of the 240v plug, so I bought the HCS-40, which is hard wired in a junction box, directly from Clipper Creek and will use the SMUD rebate to pay for it. Amazon said it would take up to a week to get the equipment, but it showed up in under two days. It helps, I guess, that Clipper Creek is only about 30 miles from Sacramento.

    I downloaded the online manual while I was waiting for the charger and bought all the supplies to install it at Home Depot for about $120. Most of the money was spent on 150 feet of 8 gauge THHN stranded wire (a 50-foot run from the electric panel to the front of our driveway with three individual conductors).

    The documentation was very clear and anyone who's even moderately handy can install the charger themselves. If you're uncomfortable inside an electric panel, you can run the conduit and wire up to the panel and then let a pro install the 40 amp twin breaker.

    The level 2 charger has made it possible to charge my Clarity in about three hours vs. 19 hours using household current. The fact that it was free is just icing on the cake.

    Simple durable construction. Works good. Installed inside my garage. I have a second EV charging station at my office from another manufacturer and the extra internet information is nice but is problematic at times due to lost WiFi connection. This unit just works. The packaging is very good and unit arrived in perfect condition. Easy installation and very straight forward. I didn't think I would be able to take advantage of the 25' cord at first but I am glad that I have it now. The extra length cord allows me to charge my car if parked outside if needed. The only complaint I would have is the delivery time. I would almost knock off a star because of the delivery time and extra cost but the unit is a good product. The shipping dates were correctly stated on the order and it took the entire time for delivery. Ordered on Oct 7th and delivered on Oct 18th. If in a hurry like I was do not expect it to arrive early on the estimated shipping date. Not an amazon prime item and shipping was $36 bucks extra. Ordered a competitors model and arrived in one day from local Home depot, no shipping charge. I would purchase again and would recommend the unit.

    There are no smarts in this thing, but it has a 25' cord (maximum allowed) and up to 7.2 KW in power delivery capability. Plus, it is made in the USA! Their support is top-notch! I emailed them at what must be 3 in the morning their time for advice on altering my installation so that the nice, solid "CLUNK" sound it makes when the contactor operates (normal behavior) doesn't travel to my guest bedroom above my garage, and they CALLED with a thorough answer within less than six hours!

    If you are going to install it yourself, make sure you know the permitting requirements and read up on Article 625 of the National Electric Code, 2014 edition. Most notably, plan to pick up a "disconnect" from Home Depot.

    Super simple installation; great instructions; feels like a quality proct all around. Installed it two days ago and so far so good! No need to buy a fancy Wifi charger as the car often includes most of those functions anyways (scheduled charging, status updates, etc.).

    Also, there is currently a federal tax credit for installing a (hard wired) EV charging station in your home. I believe you get 30% back up to $1,000.
