    The Generac Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Level 2 Plus is an impressive piece of equipment, especially at its price point! For a 48 AMP quick charge unit, it delivers fast and reliable charging for my EV, cutting down charging times significantly compared to lower-level chargers. It’s ultra-compact, which makes it easy to install without taking up much space, and the 25-foot cable is long enough to comfortably reach my vehicle, no matter where I park.

    One of the standout features is the smart connectivity. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth integration works seamlessly with the app, and being compatible with Alexa and Google Home is a major bonus for smart home enthusiasts. I can manage and monitor my charging schedule right from my phone, which adds a lot of convenience. Plus, the Energy Star and UL certifications give me confidence that it’s efficient and safe.

    Generac Electric Vehicle Charger Level 2 Plus - After a few weeks of testing, I'm impressed. It's Wallbox hardware with Generac's name, but the software is all Generac.

    The interface is user friendly and stable. Scheduling feature works great - I easily set it to charge during off-peak hours, saving money.

    Charging speed is as advertised, much faster than Level 1 chargers. The 25ft cable is great for different parking setups. Nothing bad to say about this charger.

    This charger requires professional installation, but it is worth the expense. We drive too many miles daily otherwise to make an EV reliable, and this give us the extra oomph we need to charge quickly and reliably. The price was better than what we were quoted by our dealer, and we used a reasonably priced electrician we know. We estimate that it should pay for itself in less than a year.

    I recently upgraded my parents' setup with the Generac Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Level 2 Plus, and it's been a fantastic decision. This charger is significantly faster than their previous one, adding up to 30 miles of range every hour, which has made a huge difference in their daily routine. They no longer have to worry about planning around long charging times, which has brought them a lot of convenience and peace of mind.

    The Generac EV Charging app has been another big win. My parents are thrilled with how easy it is to manage and monitor their charging sessions. The app allows them to schedule charges during non-peak times to save money, set reminders, track usage, and even get instant alerts when the charging is complete. It’s user-friendly and adds a whole new level of control over their charging experience.

    My parents are more than pleased with the upgrade, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their EV charging experience.

    At this point, there isn't a whole lot of differentiation between various EV chargers. As long as they work and are reliable, you won't get drastic changes in charging speeds for the listed Amperage.

    This is a 48A max, which is on the higher end. This is more than enough charging power, assuming your panel can handle the full 48A, for basically any driven many miles a day with perhaps the exception of very large ones like the Cybertruck. And even that can be recharged fully with this but you may need to charge when rates are not at their lowest, unlike most people who will schedule charging for late at night.

    The look of it is neat. Might fit into a home with modern architecture considering it's fully square design. Everything works fine and the app lets you do all the things you'd expect out of a higher end charger.

    I know Generac well from its line of portable generators. They have always put out an excellent product. As far as I can tell, they’re fairly new to the electric vehicle charging market. But this recently released L2 EV Charger, apparently made in partnership with Wallbox, has been produced to the same standard as their other products. It’s a premium-priced charger, but it delivers premium features.

    The L2 EV Charger has five charging modes and will charge a vehicle up to eight times faster than an L1 charger. The charger features Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity so you can manage your charging schedule through Generac’s proprietary app. And it has a unique power-sharing feature that lets you connect multiple chargers to the same circuit (up to 25) to optimize power usage and ensure no overloading. The “power boost” capability can increase your charging speed, while allowing you to monitor power so as to avoid tripping a breaker and causing disruption throughout your home.

    This sleek matte black charger will work on all electric vehicles using the SAE J1772 Type 1 connector, which almost every car has. (If you have a Tesla, it will require the purchase of an additional adapter.) The L2 EV Charger has a very small footprint (its longest measurement is just under eight inches), but it comes with a generous 25-foot charging cable. It can be mounted in a garage or outdoors. (This charger requires hardwiring and, unless you know what you’re doing, it’s best to have a qualified electrician install it.) On the downside, it doesn’t appear to offer any support for integrating into smart home installations, even though Matter smart home interoperability standards now support EV chargers. But it does offer compatibility with Alexa and Google Home (through the app).

    As for charging, so far, it’s working perfectly, although I’m using it at a second home, so I’ve only charged the vehicle fully about three times. But I’m using the “schedule” feature to charge overnight at - presumably - lower rates. That’s a great feature and it, too, works perfectly!
