Honestly for my first camera, everything was easy to use and combined with the 50mm 1.8 lens, photos have great bokeh especially if you know how to use it in manual mode. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to upgrade from a cheaper camera and don’t let the age of the camera fool you, everything about it feels 2022 lol. I’ll update if anything changes!

I have used many different DSLR's. Happy with FF mirrorless now that it's affordable. Camera is decent size, not huge, it has a big sensor. Takes great low iso with great dynamic range photos. Really remarkable for an older model. High iso is decent, the PDAF is good. Perhaps not top of the line anymore, but for the price your getting a true beast, a true semi-pro camera for the price of a typical APSC camera. This is the future, apsc was always about compromise, but Sony and Canon have busted that bubble. I also use M43 too, it's a great combo.

Sony hit it out of the park when they released the first A-7 camera body. Since then they have continued to refine and improve the camera. Every control you need is at your fingertips. The viewfinder is simply brilliant. Those of us who switched over from their DSLR's find the switch easy, again, the engineers thought everything through. My only complaint is the change in lens mounts from the Alpha/Minolta mount to the newer FE mount. Sony does make adapters to allow us to use those lenses on the new camera with one caviot. The APS-C Alpha mount lenses don't work on the new body. They only cover the smaller image size, so they have to be replaced with the newer FE full coverage lenses. Canon and Nikon just entered the market, too late, too expensive and too bad. Sony owns this market with superior equipment.

1 year in and extremely happy considering the used price. I was very excited to finally try shooting full frame, and although I only have 1980's Canon FD lenses (great combo by the way, if auto-focus isn't crucial), I couldn't ask for better portrait performance. Battery life surprisingly isn't the worst, I haven't had to change the battery in the middle of a shoot (yet, mostly because I avoid using the beautiful-yet-battery-hog of an EVF). I am also very impressed with low light/high ISO performance. But of course this is a good upgrade from a Canon T2i, but I think I would still be beyond happy coming from something newer. Definitely going to recommend my friends to consider Sony when the time comes to move up from their T5s and D5400s.

A 24M pixel full frame camera, that is a decent size without being to heavy; well built, easy to use and intuitive control layout. This camera can be utilized by both the novice and the professional; it has all the bells and whistles required. Keep in mind that the lenses will be expensive. That being said as a mirrorless camera, there are adapters available to utilize old glass that you may still have or can purchase at lower cost to maintain your kit.
One of the great feature is image stabilization, that will be a must for old glass. this will help all those little movements we do when taking shots.
image quality is very good, as long as you have a decent lens. I would suggest investing in software to edit .RAW images.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good entry level FF camera for the budget-minded. Otherwise, buy an α7 III if you can.

I sold my Canon 6D to buy this camera. It produces the image quality and dynamic range I wished my 6D would've had, but the α7II falls a bit short on high ISO performance. I'm personally uncomfortable using it past ISO 3200 whereas I used to shoot usable images on my 6D at up to ISO 10000. Other than that, I have no other complaints. It's smaller, lighter, and great for most situations. I love being able to download apps to it for tasks such as timelapse and the ability to use my phone as a remote shutter release. The In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) on this is what sold me. I've been able to take razor sharp photos at 1/10 sec. thanks to IBIS. It really does make a world of difference!

UPDATE 3/31/2018: This is a good buy if you're just getting into the full frame world on a budget. Otherwise, buy the α7 III. The updated features and tech on the α7 III completely destroy the α7 II. It's not even funny--for Sony to call the α7 III the "basic model" comes of as sarcasm. The α7 III is essentially a baby α9.

This camera has been amazing. I love the size and using the MC11 adapter for EF lenses this camera is a beast. The low light could be better but it is still great in video and photos. My main complaint is battery life, it's not amazing but not horribly short. I have plenty of extra batteries and can shoot all day but I wish it was a little better. Other than that the resolution is amazing, the super low ISO is nice to have and the customized settings for buttons make this thing a dream to shoot with.
