Tesla Universal Wall Connector – Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger with Dual Plug Type

It's definitely worth the extra $100 to invest in the universal charger for the added flexibility of powering not just your own vehicle, but any EV you might come across. I've been using it for over seven months now without any issues, thankfully. I'd strongly recommend getting one before purchasing your EV to ensure a smoother transition.

Had it installed professionally and it has worked great so far. The only issue was connecting it to the wifi It took several attempts even after moving an access point to achieve a stronger signal

I had tried to use the included charger that came with the car, but even at 220V it just didn't do a great job of charging, it was slow. At 110 it was pathetic. I didn't have a 220 outlet, so I was using it at 110V and getting 4-5 miles of range per house. I was constantly having to top up at the supercharger. Which is not as convenient as a gas station.

This charger was installed by an electrician, but I had the power available, from the A/C units, so it wasn't too expensive. The result is that I get 48-miles of range for each hour charged. I setup the car to charge over night, and it is always done when I leave. Basically, I just plug in when I am home at night. I never have to go to supercharger. Never am low on range. It is just a must have for the Tesla.

Now that the other cars are getting adapters for Tesla, I expect to be able to use this on other cars. Maybe Rivian can use it. If that is the case, this is going to be even more valuable.

Setup and updates are done with WIFI, so it is helpful to have WIFI in range of your charger, but it is NOT required. You can update the firmware without wifi, if you have to.

I really like that this charger is compatible with both standards, and the adapter can not be removed (or lost). Good idea. Good design. Good for a rental home. (I just wish there was a way to turn off the charger from the app when nobody is at the home.)
