    $350 for a coffeemaker is, well, silly. But I did it anyway. After years of weak pod coffee, then a few months of literal coffee flavored water from a “top brand” electric percolator, I was just done. All I wanted was a simple, good cup of coffee. No unnecessary tech to go wrong, no dumb “smart” tech, just a good cup of coffee. So, I did the unthinkable and bought the technivorm. The clinchers were it’s simplistic design, the fact that it has the least amount of plastic that comes into contact with the hot water or coffee (though it still has A LOT of plastic, much to my chagrin) and it’s made in The Netherlands, NOT CHINA.
    So, does it make a good cup of coffee? Yes! But boy is it strong for my now ridiculously unrefined palate. So many years of weak coffee made me forget what real coffee tasted like. It’s good, but will take time for me to adjust to. Or you could just lessen the amount of grounds used. I’ll probably do that.
    My biggest beef? The carafe. It is every bit as fragile feeling as all the reviews state. I’m thinking I should have gotten the thermal carafe instead. Plus, after using only twice, tiny little cracks in the lip of the pour spout have formed (see pic). I will contact technivorm for a replacement as truly, this IS indeed unacceptable for a $350 coffee maker. I will update if/when I hear back.

    This machine is a thing of beauty and a total game changer for our favorite morning ritual. We buy good fresh coffee but had a cheap black Friday deal drip maker. It made ok coffee. Just made our first batch with the Moccamaster and I could have sworn someone changed out the coffee we are using. It's that significant of an upgrade! The machine is gorgeous and intriguing to watch, this being my first ever video post. I also love that I can buy parts foe this machine with the idea of never obsoleting it. I'm over disposable appliances and want this to last. I'm SO impressed!

    I first used a Moccamaster coffee maker a few months ago in Finland and was determined to find one and buy it my home use. Simply put, it's the best coffee maker I've ever owned. It looks cool (Euro-Scandinavian styling), it's easy to load, use, and clean, and the taste is great. I also purchased the Technivorm Moccamaster 49522 KM5 Burr Coffee Grinder along with it. Don't hesitate to purchase either one of these great kitchen appliances. You'll love 'em both!

    If you love coffee and you buy quality coffee you need this machine. There's no point in buying specialty coffee or honey, you're naturally dry processed beans if you can't give them a proper brew. Make sure you spend the extra $2 to get moccamaster number 4 filters that are oxygen bleached white not chemical. If you can spend $400 bucks on a coffee maker, you can spend $4 on filters. A small amount of research will confirm what I've told you, this coffee machine brews coffee the way it's supposed to be brewed and very few do. Pour over style coffee every time. Amazing. Watch my video review with the volume up to get the full effect. You don't want to miss it.

    My first Moccamaster half pot—16 oz.water, which yields two cups of coffee —was disappointing. Brew time was too long because grind wasn’t coarse enough. Flavor was sharp, unpleasant. So after adjusting the grind, the second half pot was very good. I also checked the actual temp in the brew basket, 196.8°, which is acceptable for 3400 ft elevation. I am pleased with my purchase and glad for the YouTube vids that explain how grind size and brew temp affect the flavor of drip coffee. Bean quality is only one element in the equation. Also I was hesitant to buy this one because the color in the listing did not appeal to me, but none of the other colors did either. If I settled for a silver or white model, I would pay an extra $40. So I settled for this “rose gold” model and saved $40 to spend on coffee beans. So glad I did! The color is beautiful in my house; it has a lovely warm glow, not the cold, flat color in the listing photo.
