I figured this would only be 40 or so amps on a 14-50. The app will tell you not to exceed 40a if you use the plug. I only know this because I tested it out at home before I had this hardwired in a rental property. NEMA 14-50s generally don't like running at 50 amps for hours and hours, so this is no surprise, but still, it should be in the listing somewhere. You know someone is going to buy this, expect to get 50 amps out of a 14-50 socket, and be disappointed.

Installation was a breeze. If you can operate a drill, you can install the bracket in a matter of minutes. Hardwiring it was easy...for my electrician. Just hire someone to do that part. It should only be a few hundred bucks and it's much safer to have an actual electrician work on this kind of thing.

I have this attached to the side of an apartment complex that I own. I was going to use the RFID card, but then I remembered that the parking area is gated. I just left it as plug and charge. There's a security camera pointed right at that spot, so I know exactly who is using it. I took a peek at the security camera footage earlier, and there is pretty much always someone plugged into this. In other words, it is being used by people who don't own it, all the time, and it is holding up just fine. Of course, they do see the security camera pointed at it, so breaking it would be unwise.

The app is easy to use. I only played around with it a bit when it was still plugged into a 14-50 in my garage. I'm not a big app guy, but I wouldn't complain too much if I had to use this one.

Overall build quality is quite high. That's the main reason I selected it for apartment complex use.

The #EVCUBNB Level 2 EV Charger is a capable and flexible charger. It can be mounted indoors or out. We have ours mounted inside our garage but the 25ft cable allows our vehicle to be charged while parked in the driveway. It requires a NEMA 14-50R receptacle or it can be hardwired directly to a 50amp circuit. Power output can be adjusted from 16 to 50amps allowing you to tailor the charging costs to your needs. You can also configure the unit to operate as a Plug and Charge device, use an RFID card to enable charging, schedule the charging to charge overnight or use an App to control the charging. Mounting is easy and requires basic tools. Just make sure to find a stud if you're mounting it on drywall as it and the cable are quite heavy. I really like this charger and the ability to configure to suit your needs.

This is an unknown brand to me but it is a very well-built product. The package came with a high-power 50Amp Level 2 charger with a very thick cable that can handle the amperage, mounting kit, and a 25 foot long cable.

To take advantage of the 50Amp charging power, you will need a 60 Amp circuit breaker for the hardwire version. However, for the NEMA 14-50, you are limited to 40 Amp of the charing power because of the NEMA 14-50 power limitation. You can use a 50 Amp circuit breaker on a NEMA 14-50 plug, and 80% of that is 40Amp. I would not recommend anything over 50Amp on a NEMA 14-50 plug. If you want to go higher than 40Amp charger, you will need the hardwire version.

It's amazing how powerful the charging is. I chose to hardwire the unit so that I could get the most out of its 50a capacity. Otherwise I would recommend 40a. This setup has cut down on the time it takes to charge, so my Tesla charges much faster than it did with my old charger. It saves me a lot of time and makes sure my car constantly prepared for use. Given its long reach of 25ft, it makes charging my car easy no matter where it is parked in the garage. This flexibility is especially helpful for people who have bigger spaces or more than one car. The extra features, such as the 2.4G WiFi, the app that goes with it, makes it even easier to use. The RFID card gives me safe entry, and the app lets me check on the charging process and change settings from my phone.

This charger is a standout considering the brand is unknown to me. Its cable is noticeably thicker than other 40A models I’ve used, suggesting durability. Setup was a breeze, and the app offers convenient control and charging history tracking for energy management. I don't care about it as I own a Tesla, but its nice to have.

I appreciate the flexible charging options. The “plug and charge” mode is handy for quick starts, but the ability to disable it with a physical card or app is a game-changer for security, especially in public areas. I could see living in an apartment with other people trying to drain your energy from it. This feature should be standard.

The charger's build quality is impressive, with a simple, informative LED display. Installation was straightforward for my existing 220V outlet, but I strongly advise checking your home's electrical capacity before purchase. A 50A load is substantial and may require electrical upgrades, as was the case for me. A standard dryer connection in a garage should be no problem.

Considering its price and features, this charger delivers excellent value.

Switching to an electric vehicle comes with many changes, one of them being the transition to home charging. In my quest to find an efficient and cost-effective solution, I've tried out several Level 2 EV chargers. One of the standout features of this EV Charger is its 50A capacity. With this level of output, it significantly outperforms standard Level 1 and smaller level 2 chargers, providing faster charging times and ensuring my EV is ready to go when I am.

Installation was straightforward although I did need to get an electrician out to wire up a higher amp outlet to take full advantage of the 50A charging ability.

This is a nice charging station. The quality appears to be very good with a long charging cable making the reach to convenet. If there is no 240V outlet close to where you want the charging station to go, the addition of the outlet could get expensive too, even for the do it yourselfer. Although hardwiring is an option there doesn't appear to have instructions on how to open the unit to remove the power cord, or are you expected to just cut the cord. I don't see any rear entry port to run wires from the back. It looks like you would need to remove the faceplate and take out several screws to get to the electrical terminals. That doesn't affect me. I want it to use the plug so I can use a welder as well. As for now I think it is a good value.

First and foremost, yes this charger can charge at 50a. The caveat with that (that I don't see mentioned anywhere in the description) is to achieve that level, you are supposed to hardwire it (it tells you this if you try to increase the charge current to 50a in the app). With the plug installation, you are not supposed to exceed 40a (regardless of your circuit setup, the plug itself is only rated to 40a). This should absolutely be disclosed in the description and is the reason I'm dropping a star. Aside from that, the charger seems fantastic. It has a massive cable compared to other 32a and 40a chargers I have used and seems very durable. The charger is easy to setup and control in the app. It's nice that the app tracks your charging history to help with energy use monitoring. This charger also has 2 modes you switch between by toggling plug and charge on or off. With it on, you just plug it in and the vehicle starts charging. If you're in a rural are though and want to ensure someone doesn't use your charger, you can turn plug and charge off and then when you plug the vehicle in, nothing happens until you activate the charger either with the app or one of the rfid cards included with it. This is a very nice option that I'd like to see in more chargers as I know it can be problematic for people in cities with random people pulling up and using their chargers.
