Dreo Smart Portable Air Conditioner: Quiet Cooling (46 dB), App/Voice Control

I use this AC in my lung room (this is where I grow hydroponics in deep water culture). This thing keeps the temperatures and humidity in the perfect range for my feminized plants even though there are 600W of LED grow lights - this unit easily cools my 16x16 room from 95 without AC to 80 degrees with AC in under 5 minutes!!

My lung room is also my work from home office so I appreciate the remote control ability to adjust temperature and humidity without getting up from my desk!!

It has WIFI connectivity so I can adjust levels even when I am not at home.

Set-up was very easy with no tools required & there is no need to empty the AC unless you are in a very humid (80%) environment. If you ARE in a 80%+ humidity there is a drain at the back of the unit that allows you to connect a hose!

Overall very impressed with this unit and the app. Wayyy less costly than running AC for my whole house.

Small but works so well and with Google is so smooth. They are a little loud but definitely worth it. The no drain feature for the AC makes not having to constantly drain it the bomb. I have 3 of these. The remote has a base on the AC that is magnetic and works from a distance.

Most 12,000 BTU portable AC unit's are good for cooling off around 500 sq. ft. This is where DREO stands above and apart. We use this portable in our downstairs family room because the heat here in the south is nothing to mess with. Our downstairs family room is difficult to cool in the summer without freezing everyone out upstairs so cost was the number one persuader for us to grab one of these. The unit does not take up much space, it operates very quietly downstairs, doesn't require us to run a drain line, and saves us a fortune when it comes to electricity here in the summer. Thanks DREO for making our summers a "DREAM" come true!

I received this Dreo portable air conditioner several months ago and now that the temperatures, and unfortunately the humidity levels are very high, I set it up and started using it last week.

It was not too bad for my wife and I to carry this unit in the box, weighing around 65-70 lbs I suspect, up one flight of stairs. Overall, it was not too difficult to unbox. Once I ripped one side of the box open along the stapled seam and folded the other sides back, and then removed the large top styrofoam piece that contained accessories, I was able to grab the 2 side handles and lift it out.

With the window panel it took me a little trial and error along with a lot of patience to get it right. Thankfully, the instructions are well written and were helpful in getting this step accomplished. Now, my window panels were partially damaged in shipping, but the piece damaged the most was an extension that I didn’t need to use anyways. It comes with plenty of foam, albeit cheap foam, with two different types. A thin adhesive foam and a thicker non-adhesive foam. I wound up just using the thicker non-adhesive foam and not the thinner adhesive foam, but will purchase a better quality foam when I have the chance. I am disappointed that the panel is plastic and not metal, like another brand, but similar type of unit I use in another room. It was also packaged on the side and low in the box and not well protected. One tip is to connect the vent hose to the panel opening before placing the panel in the window frame.

I find that this is a very powerful unit that is able to cool my bedroom that is around 14 x 16 feet very well. It is easy to use and I am impressed by the quality of the unit as well as the remote, and I like the information display on the front of the unit. I am more old school and have not used the app, but am glad it’s available as a backup if the remote should become inoperable. I definitely would not call this unit whisper quiet and using it in a tile floored room it is louder than a fan, even on low, but the sound is not too bad considering the relief it provides.

Just some background; I keep temperatures very high in my house in order to keep energy costs and maintenance costs of my old central a/c unit down. Not having to use my central a/c to cool my whole house, when I spend most of my time in one room was the primary factor in purchasing this portable unit. Now I can have more tolerable temps in my bedroom and let the rest of the house be hotter.

** Now one word of caution is that this Dreo unit has tripped my breaker in the middle of the night shutting off the power and fans in my bedroom multiple times. I wake up drenched in sweat. This happened when I had it on automatic mode, but it has also happened on low in manual mode. Putting it on eco mode has worked the best. If you really want this unit to perform like it should you will need to make sure the outlet is connected to a 20 amp breaker and not the standard 15 amp.

I want to take a moment to clear up a misconception put out by the manufacturer on the product page. This is definitely not a “drainage free” system. You have to connect an included tube to the back of the unit and put the other end in a bucket. In the time frame of 30 minutes of running the unit on low my standard size bucket had already accumulated 1 inch of water. The humidity levels are very high, so if you live in area with less humidity your results may be different. Additionally, there is another port that has to be drained occasionally. The silly thing is that the put it all the way on the bottom, of the back of the unit so that you have to lift the heavy unit onto a raised platform in order to put something under it to catch the fluid.

Lastly, I am pleased with this Dreo portable unit, and while some of the accessories are of lower quality than I prefer, the performance of the unit as a whole deserves a high recommendation. 4 1/2 stars is my final rating.

This is a good air conditioner. It is as described and pictured. It is durable and very portable. I like the included remote, digital display screen and app features. It cools a small room well and efficiently. It can be a little loud when on full blast. I only wish that it included options for different types of windows because I had to purchase a kit for my windows that opened from the side. The price point is good especially since they offer a small coupon. I would recommend for any home, office, personal or professional use. This could be a cool housewarming or gift idea.

When I moved in with my girlfriend the room we had was just way too hot especially in Arizona heat, so I got this and it actually has changed our lives. The price for how well made the product is great, the temperature goes all the way down too 65 so that’s amazing, doesn’t weight a ton so you won’t break your back, and it’s pretty low in noise when on, the only time it gets louder is when it’s on full blast but it actually kinda is like white noise so it helps me sleep. Plus an added app to have your room cold when you come home after a long day of work unlike some of the other Ac’s at this price. 10/10 product money well spent for sure!!!

This is a pretty decent portable air conditioner. I got this one to replace our older one that stopped working. The build quality of this smart air conditioner is way better. Also this one has a few more features as well. Starting with one feature that this portable ac unit has that our old didn't have is smart capabilities. That is one of my favorite features. I'm not only able to control control it with the simple to use remote control but I'm also to control it with Alexa and my phone in the dreo app. Speaking of the app, it's very easy to navigate and easy to use. I'm able to set schedules and timers in the app. I'm also able to turn it on and off when I'm away from home in the app.

The installation process was so easy. It came with everything that I needed like hoses and the window kit.

It has several different features, the main feature and reason why I got it is for its cooling. I have it setup in my home studio because it getting really hot when I'm filming because of all of video lights and filming equipment. My home studio is basically a average size bedroom that I turned into my studio. It really does a good job at keeping my studio at a good comfortable temperature. Now instead of running my home central air system just to keep my studio cool, I just use this. To my surprise it really puts out a decent amount of cool air for where I'm using it.

So far it has been working great, and me and my wife was so impressed with it, that we decided to order another unit for our kitchen.

I have a weird window in one of my bedrooms. Its small and opens sideways. This unit is perfect with its exhaust tube. It's has a lot more features than the one I had there last year. I actually really like the app with run schedule.

It cools well and I only have to drain the water if it gets super humid. Most of the time it's able to evaporate it. It's easy to install and get set up. The unit works great. I'd recommend it.
